La Suite West enjoys a peaceful location on a leafy side street just moments away from the bustling atmosphere of Bayswater, one of London’s most talked-about areas. The hotel is within easy reach of some of the most beautiful parts of the city, including Kensington Palace and the open green spaces of Hyde Park – home to the beautiful Serpentine Gallery and river. This is also a great location of choice for shopaholics, with the designer shops and world-famous department stores of the West End and Knightsbridge just a short distance away.
Look & Feel
As the brainchild of Anouska Hempel, one of the world’s most celebrated designers and architects and a key society figure, La Suite West was always going to be spectacular. With a design concept embedded in a utopian philosophy, Hempel set out to create this hotel that really takes the chic concept to the max. Set across a number of 19th century townhouses, the Asian design influence is apparent in the fluid, clean lines, block colours (predominantly black and white) and the bold, sharp edges, which blend seamlessly for a minimalist look and feel.
This purity stretches indoors through to the bedrooms and out into the impeccably manicured gardens creating a flowing design and graceful, Zen-like atmosphere. This spiritual, calming mood features throughout the selection of bedrooms, where the black-and-white design is complemented by four-poster beds and an array of Asian detail, including black wood shutters and rubber chairs, creating an atmosphere bathed in endless luxury. Clean-cut ensuite bathrooms fill their ample space with marble structures and spacious walk-in showers. Even the white marble desk in the reception area doubles up as an artwork. Delicate and seductive, this design concept is a triumph of the East-meets-West theme and makes La Suite West an iconic urban building.

With the option to eat al fresco during the spring and summer months, the landscaped private terrace really makes the most of its prime location. An Asian-inspired design structure with hurricane lamps and white oak furnishings sits beautifully against the backdrop of a typical London street creating an image that could have been taken straight from a film.
Both the health food movement and traditional Oriental cuisine inspire the menu, with tasting plates including Kale and Orange Salad with Hemp Vinaigrette and Aubergine Sweet Miso with Wasabi Cream. There is also the option to choose dishes that have not been heated above 118 degrees Fahrenheit (hence the restaurant’s ‘Raw’ title), which just exemplifies how every detail of this beautiful hotel has been given the utmost care and attention.
La Suite West is by no means Anouska Hempel’s first incredible design achievement. She helped to design the flagship Paris retail store for Louis Vuitton and also created haute couture pieces for none other than Princess Diana herself.
