Situated in over an acre of beautiful private grounds, The Norfolk Mead enjoys a tranquil ambience amidst nature. The surrounding area offers opportunities to explore unspoilt beaches, grand architecture and the historic city of Norwich, located just five miles from the hotel.
Four years ago new owners James and Anna found a tired, neglected hotel just outside Norwich and set about transforming it into the sort of hotel that they knew would appeal locally and internationally after their years working with the McLaren Formula 1 team. The result is quite astounding and, as you would expect from owners with Formula 1 pedigree, the place is a little like a F1 garage: spotlessly clean in every department.
Look & Feel
Even more incredible is that they oversaw the transformation from shabby to chic in under two months, filling in a swimming pool and now planning to extend the property and to add on a spa facility to further appeal to both guests and local visitors looking for a day of pampering in style.
The rooms are delightfully minimalist and simple to use, yet comfortable with lovely beds and luscious linen. All of the rooms are similar in décor but different in aspect and the property has everything from family suites to cosy single bedrooms. Spacious bathrooms with deep baths and power showers make any stay a relaxing and luxurious experience.
“The real treat comes with the dining room and the wonderful cuisine overseen by Anna and her team using fresh local produce.”
The real treat comes with the dining room and the wonderful cuisine overseen by Anna and her team using high quality, fresh local produce. Remember the days in Britain where you simply could not rely on either a comfortable bed or world-class cuisine? Those days are over and The Norfolk Mead has truly raised the bar in this part of the country. If you are looking to celebrate a major birthday or wedding then look no further than The Garden Room venue – a totally separate cool space with its own kitchen and bar providing a brilliant facility for parties, dinners or receptions – all discreetly tucked away from the main house.
Get the hotel to prepare a picnic hamper for you and set off exploring the unique environment of the Broads from the hotel’s own mooring at the bottom of the garden.
